since 2005: Department manager in the Hanseatic City of Stralsund, responsible for roads and public green; underground, hydraulic and bridge engineering and traffic planning
married, two children
since 2007: member of the Christlich Demokratischen Union (Christian Democratic Union)
takes office as Lord Mayor in October 2008
successor of Harald Lastovka (CDU) who retires for reasons of age
